Compared to the Guajak and haematoporphyrin tests, it is highly specific for human haemoglobin (hHb). Food peroxidases, animal blood and ascorbic acid do not affect the results. The DRG Occult Detect Rapid Screening Test is intended for use by healthcare professionals only. It is a useful tool for detecting faecal occult blood which may be caused by various conditions such as diverticulitis, colitis, polyps and colorectal carcinoma.
