Spotlight to DRG´s DHT-optimized ELISA
One of the most important product groups in the DRG Instruments portfolio are tests for the detection of steroid hormones.
Among these, 5α Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) plays an important role for sexual differentiation of male genitalia during embryogenesis, maturation of primary and secondary sex characteristics, and maintenance of the prostate gland and seminal vesicles. It is produced from the less potent testosterone by the enzyme 5α-reductase in select tissue and acts complementary to testosterone.
The determination of the DTH is of great importance in many diseases.
In consequence, DRG´s DHT enzyme immunoassay is an aid for:
- Clarification of hypogonadism in man
- Clarification of virilization symptoms in women
- Clarification of disturbances in steroid hormone metabolism (e.g. 5-alpha-reductase
- Substitution monitoring
- Monitoring of or therapy with 5α-reductase inhibitors
