DRG´s Progesterone and Cortisol ELISAs successfully used on wild whales and seals in Scotland
Results will be presented on a Conference in Portugal in April 2013
We have been informed by scientist Joanna L. Kershaw from the Sea Mammal Research Unit, Scottish Oceans Institute, University of St. Andrews, that she has successfully used DRG´s Progesterone and Cortisol ELISAs on samples from wild whales and seals.
Mrs. Kershaw has measured both cortisol and progesterone for the first time in blubber samples from humpback whales, and in blubber and plasma samples from harbour seals.
She has been accepted to present these results at the annual European Cetacean Society Conference in Setubal, Portugal, in April 2013.
The Scottish Oceans Institute is an interdisciplinary research institute studying the marine environment which forms a key focus for research excellence in marine-related science.
