Iron Metabolism: Hepcidin 25
DRG is the leading manufacturer and offers 3 types of Hepcidin 25 immunoassays: Unique and fully automated on DRG:HYBRiD•XL® platform and manualELISA formats for serum/plasma or saliva samples
Why test for Hepcidin?
The protein Hepcidin is a key regulator in iron metabolism. It blocks the iron Transporter ferroprotein and thus both the absorption of iron in the intestine and the release of iron from the reticuloendothelial system (RES).
Hepcidin has a diagnostic potential in a Variety of iron disorders:
- Hemochromatosis
- Chronic liver disease
- Differential diagnosis of anemia
