NEW BROCHURE: Fecal Pancreatic Elastase - Fully automated with DRG:HYBRiD•XL® Analyzer
Why test for Pancreatic Elastase
Pancreatic Elastase is an enzyme produced by the pancreas and released to faeces by PMS cells. Fecal Pancreatic Elastase is an indicator of chronic pancreatitis or pancreas insufficiency:
- Diagnosis / exclusion of exocrine pancreas insufficiency in case of unexplained diarrhea, constipation, steatorrhea, flatulence, weight loss, upper abdominal pain, and food intolerances
- Monitoring of exocrine pancreas function in cystic fibrosis, diabetes mellitus, and chronic pancreatitis.
The measurement of Pancreatic Elastase levels in stool can therefore be used as a diagnostic tool to identify pancreatic diseases.
